Astoria Class A Diesel Motorhome Reviews

thor-rvWhen the economic environment slowed the pace of sales for the RV industry, Thor Industries was not exempt. However, even during the recession Thor experienced an increased market share for some of its motor coaches. One of which was Thor Astoria motorhomes – Class A Diesel Pusher.

First introduced in 2004 under Damon Corp, the Astoria was an entry-level motor coach and one of the lowest-priced Class A diesels on the market. When parent company Thor Industries consolidated Damon Motor Coach and Four Winds International into a new motorhome division, Thor Motor Coach, it completely redesigned the Astoria brand.

A big change was the introduction of 40-foot floor plans that offer a king bed triple slide, a 40-foot queen bed/bunk bed quad slide, and a 36-foot quad slide featuring a queen bed mid-ship. Fiberglass front and rear caps were added to the full body paint gel-coat exteriors. Dual pane windows, a tinted one piece windshield, and a radius corner domed TPO roof add to the high quality construction. There were also important operation improvements such as the three-camera backup monitor system. It also had audio support and front-mounted heated chrome mirrors added to all models.

The Astoria is currently manufactured in three floor plans ranging in length from 37’ 4” to 39’ 10”. The exteriors heights are 12’ 8” and exterior widths are 101”. These coaches are built on a Freightliner XC chassis with a Cummins ISB-XT Diesel 360 HP engine. It rates a GVWR of 32,400 lbs.
