An apology to those of you who attempted to purchase the 2020 Travel Trailer & Fifth Wheel Comparison Guide recently and encountered an “Out of Stock” status. The initial printing sold faster than expected, temporarily leaving us with empty shelves during our Winter Sale.
Happily, our printer responded with a sense of urgency and we are officially back in the game.
In our defense, after 20 years we felt we had a pretty good handle on the buying patterns of our customers, but a flurry of post-holiday activity caught us off-guard. January -a time of year when some RV dealers have been known to spend their days dozing in their unsold inventory- was much busier than usual.
Aside from the unexpected shortage of stock, we’re encouraged by the buzz of activity. This is a good sign, not just for us, but the RV industry –and even the U.S. economy. It’s no secret that both Wall Street and Washington keep a close eye on the RV industry, using it as a proven bellwether of the nation’s mood. Strong RV sales imply all sorts of important things: an optimistic populace, a bullish stock market, low unemployment, solid income, and banks willing to lend.
On the down side, increased interest from the buying public can limit discounts and sales from RV dealers and manufacturers. Or, in our case, a shortsighted lack of inventory. As we move in to spring, don’t expect your local RV dealer to offer the slashed prices of the last few years. We’ve swung from a buyer’s market to a seller’s market.
Happily, we’ve been here before and the money saving tips and tricks in the 2020 Travel Trailer & Fifth Wheel Comparison Guide (as well as the 2020 Motorhome Comparison Guide) are proven to work in any season or market mood. In fact, we’d say they’re more valuable now than ever. RV dealers are going to be playing hard to get in the months ahead and the uninformed buyer will be paying more for less.
As the old saying goes, knowledge is power. The informed buyer –those willing to put some time in to researching now- will still reap the rewards –and the savings.
That’s it for this week, folks. Do your research. Have fun shopping for the best RV for you. And save thousands.
Happy travels,
The RVReviews.net Team
